To celebrate this year’s Commonwealth Day on 10th March, a new national event has been created. ‘Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth’ will see 500 local authorities, charities and community groups take part in flag-raising ceremonies, making it the single largest raising of the Commonwealth flag in history.
The event - set to become the largest number of Commonwealth flags raised in history - is the brainchild of Bruno Peek, LVO OBE OPR, Pageantmaster, who has been responsible for some of the country’s most memorable celebrations including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Beacons lighting in 2012.
