OS Code-Point Open information

Features & Benefits
As one of our range of gazetteer services, Ordnance Survey's Code-Point Open data is specifically designed for online applications. Code-Point Open is a postal geography dataset that features the centroids of a set of geographically referenced points that represent the approximate 1.7 million full unit postcodes in Great Britain. It provides:
  • Geocoding at full postcode level
  • National Health Service and local government area codes down to ward level
  • Search and locate at postcode level
Description
Each postcode in the OS Code-Point Open service, such as HP21 7QG, represents approximately 15 adjoining full addresses. This data is ideal for use in geocoding, market analysis, resource allocation and health mapping. For example, a spreadsheet of customers can be represented as point locations on a map through geocoding against the Code-Point Open gazetteer service. Other uses include full address data aggregated and joined to the corresponding postcode to create a density map of a particular health issue, disease outbreak, or shops categorised by variables such as turnover.

OS Code-Point Open is fully compatible with other Ordnance Survey digital data products and other GB map services and data supplied by Esri UK.
