Nowhere is this more significant than in the design and build process. However, currently many companies use a cumbersome multi-faceted approach with projects managed through a series of duplicated and disparate processes involving a mix of paper based design,  CAD applications, network-modelling tools, accounting packages and works management systems. This results in wasted time, data redundancy and greater opportunity for error. The whole process takes longer and undermines customer responsiveness because the core design systems lack the necessary intelligence to deliver much-needed integration capabilities.
