Unified government to implement GIS-centric land use management, permitting and enforcement system
Duluth, Ga., Jan. 14, 2010 EnerGov Solutions, an Esri 2009 business partner of the year, announced today that the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County has signed with Atlanta based, EnerGov Solutions. EnerGov will provide its industry leading GIS-centric software framework, EnerGov .NET Enterprise™ Land Management, to manage the unique regulatory land use, permitting and enforcement process of the unified government's planning, building permits & inspections and public works departments.
"We're very excited to have the software implemented," said Julie D. Morgan, Athens-Clarke County Planner. "This is a great opportunity to consolidate the array of department-level permitting databases that we have implemented over the years into one central, enterprise land use management system. The ability to share information and project details across the agency in real time is essential. Equally impressive is the ability to easily access historical permit and review information associated with properties."
"EnerGov will provide a central database and direct connection into our Esri GIS data, allowing all departments as well as our constituency to collaborate and connect seamlessly." Ms. Morgan added, "The new system will ultimately result in significant improvements in review and permitting. We look forward to a substantial return on this investment by increasing department efficiencies with time saved by both Athens-Clarke County staff and, as importantly, the public applicants for permits."
"We evaluated many vendors during our rigorous selection process, EnerGov clearly stood out as having the most up to date, proven and innovative technology in the industry" said Ms. Morgan.
The EnerGov software will be implemented in multiple phases, with the core land management software implemented as phase one and scheduled to begin installation in early 2010. Future phases are also in planning to include the implementation of mobile inspection technology, telephone and online electronic submission of the permit and development review process.
