Implementation ServicesESRI (UK) provides a range of consultancy services tailored to meet the needs of customers that require assistance with the installation of GIS products and implementation of GIS solutions. These services are provided to assist the customer during the critical early phases when the new products are introduced. It is important to ensure that the software or solution is installed and configured successfully and to ensure that the initial deployments are planned and executed in a logical and consistent manner. We have a team of experienced consultants that have successfully implemented systems for hundreds of customers in a wide variety of markets. The knowledge and experience of the consultants ensure that work is performed in a quick, professional and cost effective manner. This ensures that the system is operational in the shortest possible time to enable the customer to concentrate on making full use of the applications, gaining those essential early wins and progressing steadily towards fulfilling the business objectives based upon a robust infrastructure. In addition ESRI (UK) can provide GIS consultants who undertake a wide range of on-site services to address both short term requirements and for longer term assistance including period “health checks” and regular GI data management. Installation ServicesESRI’s extensive range of software products and solutions enables customers to select the product they require together with implementation services and training if necessary. The following summarises the most common Installation Services and in addition ESRI (UK) can provide assistance with deployment of all ESRI products. ArcSDE: The foundation of most customers’ GI strategy will be a centralised data repository which would typically be a relational database (Oracle, Oracle spatial / locator, SQL Server, DB2 or Informix) and ESRI’s ArcSDE for spatial database management. ESRI (UK) provide a service to assist the customer to decide on the most appropriate deployment strategy, to determine how to optimise configuration of RDBMS for tablespace, user access permissions and user roles, installation and / or configuration of the preferred RBBMS and installation of ArcSDE configured and optimised for the data needs of the customer. ArcGIS and Data Management: ArcGIS will be used as the main desktop application for data conversion, data loading, data management, data analysis and output or presentation. ESRI (UK) provides a range of services to assist with installation of ArcGIS and with integration of software extensions to enable data processing and loading into ArcSDE / RDBMS. ESRI (UK) would process and load data in collaboration with the customer’s GI team to facilitate knowledge transfer and to consolidate the training they would have received. ArcIMS: ArcIMS enables spatial data to be viewed and queried via a web browser (either internally via the Intranet or externally via the World Wide Web). ESRI (UK) provide a package of services to assist the customer to decide on the most appropriate deployment strategy, to determine how to optimise configuration of ArcIMS spatial server(s), the web server and firewall. In addition, ESRI (UK) will configure ArcIMS map services and create a standard website to provide a Map Browser that would be immediately available for use. Database Administration ServicesESRI(UK) offer a range of database administration services designed to optimise the performance and management of your application database. The application database (Oracle, Oracle spatial / locator, SQL Server, DB2 or Informix) coupled with ESRI’s ArcSDE will provide the centralised data repository used for both desktop GI operations and for GI data services provided by ArcIMS, ArcGIS server, ArcPAD (mobile) and similar applications that deliver the business solutions. Therefore the database must be managed and administered to ensure that a robust, reliable and high performance operational service is provided at all times. An RDBMS requires proactive administration. The complexity and frequency of the database administration will depend upon the purpose and use of the application data. Each customer will assess their criteria for performance and guaranteed periods of availability. ESRI (UK) provides a range of services to assist customers with the maintenance of their application databases. We can provide database specialists to assess your data storage requirements and to advise on a suitable hardware / software architecture and data model. We can provide regular (weekly) database management, performed on-site or remotely, to ensure that the database is operating reliably. We can also provide regular ‘heath checks’ (monthly or quarterly) when one of our specialist will assess the operational performance of the database, perform routine house keeping tasks, advise on future requirements and confirm that the back-up and archive processes are functioning correctly. System Audit ServicesESRI(UK) offer a range of system audit services which have been designed to optimize the operation and performance of your GIS. In general terms the audit will comprise an overall inspection and evaluation of the system the output from which will advice and recommendations on the operation and performance of the system.
