Our Methods

ESRI(UK) Consultancy Services uses industry standard methods for the planning, delivery and implementation of our projects. All of our methods are designed around the need for the management and containment of risk and we have adapted each methodology to the particular needs of spatial systems integration within our ISO accredited Quality Management System.

We look for techniques to

  • automate the production of our software components,
  • to manage our quality,
  • to reduce risk, and
  • to minimise delivery times.
Our use of industry standard techniques to support these goals includes component technology, visual programming, and the use of patterns and frameworks.

Our standard project management approach is through the use of the PRINCE2 method (PRojects In a Controlled Environment). Our standard software engineering approach is to use iterative development lifecycles for component based development. This requires a rigorous architecture-driven development method which is characterised by the use of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and our software processes are based around the use of RUP. Our standard systems architecture approach is based on a formal method for defining a conceptual, then logical, then physical architecture and is referred to as the ESRI (Enterprise) Architecture Framework (EAF).

All three processes are fundamental components of our design, development and delivery methodology and are underpinned by the ESRI(UK) quality management system.
