Transforming the delivery of adult care services

Oxfordshire County CouncilAnne Kearsley & Daniel Hart

The number of elderly people receiving publicly funded at-home care in Oxfordshire has significantly increased over the last few years. While the county council's packages of care are designed to help vulnerable clients remain independent in their own homes, this service comes at a hefty cost, a particularly sensitive financial balancing act as the belt further tightens on public spending. Yet a simple-to-use but sophisticated-in-delivery ArcGIS web map is now speeding up the care sourcing and placement process. Join Anne and Dan to discover how, by visualising clients' requirements and homecare providers' availability, the council can save money by placing clients more quickly, allocate resources more effectively as well as identify ways in which more favourable future contracts can be negotiated with suppliers.

Geospatial Traffic Regulation Orders (GTROs) and the benefits of an Esri environment

Norwich City CouncilJohn Gates

Presentation Unavailable

Every new double yellow line or changing speed limit sign is subject to a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO), a legal order that enables a local authority to manage traffic and parking. With more than 20,000 features described as TROs in the city of Norwich, managing such a large quantity of data and representing it in a more user-friendly format was a prohibitively expensive, complex challenge. To overcome the problem of the additional costs and complications associated with harnessing big data, John Gates and his team evolved their existing use of ArcGIS to visualise all TRO data in a new, easy-to-interrogate format. Not only could they do this in a reliable GIS system, already in use by the council, but they also generated annual savings of £10,000.
