Classifying Britain's greenspaces using ArcGIS Pro to support 'parkonomics'

University of Glasgow & Esri UK Jessica Hepburn, Finn Ryley, & Isla Evans

Find out about the full potential of using ArcGIS for geospatial analysis in this session, led by the University of Glasgow. One of the university's research teams, within the School of Health and Wellbeing, has just completed a project to categorise all parks in urban areas, across the whole of Great Britain. Using multi-variant clustering techniques in ArcGIS Pro, points of interest and landcover data, the team measured eighteen park qualities important for human health and created six distinct park classifications. This ground-breaking research has uncovered variations in park-type provision across cities and towns, providing valuable insight to inform strategic urban planning decisions.

Following the presentation from the University of Glasgow, Esri UK will guide you through the spatial analysis tool boxes in ArcGIS Pro and demonstrate some of these powerful tools. You will see different ways to display the analysis results in ArcGIS Pro and how to share them using ArcGIS Online. Whether you are new to ArcGIS Pro, or an experienced user, the session will show how ArcGIS Pro powers our understanding of the world.

Making conservation efforts for Wild Atlantic Salmon more effective through a national dashboard

Scottish Fisheries Coordination Centre & Esri UK Sean Robertson, Amy Luscombe, & Callum Shaw

Watch this session to discover the value that can be gained from consolidating and viewing data on interactive dashboards. You will learn from the experiences of the Scottish Fisheries Coordination Centre (SFCC), an organisation that has recently used ArcGIS Dashboards to highlight the broad range of initiatives that are urgently needed to protect endangered wild salmon populations. The dashboards bring together data on over 1,300 interventions, across 44 fisheries districts, providing the fisheries sector with its first-ever consolidated view of the level of investment required to improve freshwater habitats. SFCC has also transformed 44 static pdf fisheries management reports into dynamic story maps using the ArcGIS StoryMaps app builder to improve stakeholder engagement.

Once you have been impressed by SFCC's achievements, Esri UK provide a deep dive into the capabilities of ArcGIS Dashboards. You will discover how easy it is to create an enlightening and interactive dashboard and pick up some expert tips on taking your widget configuration further. Find out about some of the more recent additions to this key web app building tool, and gain inspiration for your next project.

Using land, property and address data with Improvement Service

Improvement Service & Esri UK Avais Ijaz, Will Hensman, Nikita Sobolev, & Kurtis Sherry

Gain a valuable update on the One Scotland Gazetteer (OSG), the definitive land, property and address gazetteer for Scotland, and find out how to optimise your use of address data in ArcGIS. The OSG dataset has been created and is managed by the Improvement Service, the national improvement organisation for Local Government in Scotland, in conjunction with 32 Scottish local authorities. In this session, you will learn about the origins of the OSG and why its innovative update process results in the most current, curated record of Scotland's land and property. The OSG is now available directly in ArcGIS using the new ArcGIS OSG Connector, improving access to authoritative gazetteer data.

After hearing about the OSG, you will have the opportunity to learn about ArcGIS Locators - the power behind place searches and geocoding in ArcGIS. Esri UK will show you how you can connect ArcGIS Locators to address data, or to your key features, and then adapt them to your team's needs. See ArcGIS Locators at work and learn more about how they can support responsive workflows using the most up-to-date location information.
