Data and software
Esri UK created the new interactive map using ArcGIS Online, in the new Map Viewer using data from GlobalPetrolPrices.
At the beginning of 2022, significant events in eastern Europe saw major conflict and impacted the lives of millions. On a wider scale, some of the notable impacts around the world were observed in the distribution of fuel. As the instability of energy supply increased, the price also soared which was ultimately felt the hardest by consumers. This map looks at the percentage change in fuel prices around the world, displayed through a range of eye-catching colours.
This map takes the percentage change of fuel prices from 21 February to 4 April, visualising these colours on major highways across the world, displayed on an interactive map. The amazing symbology is due to a series of blending mode and effects, to really make the data stand out against the dark basemap.
