Esri Ireland Named One of the Best Workplaces in Ireland for the 2nd Consecutive Year
As a company dedicated to building trust in every relationship throughout its organisation, Esri Ireland is delighted to announce that they have been officially recognised as one of the Best Workplaces in Ireland in 2018. Esri Ireland were recognised at the annual Great Place to Work Best Workplaces in Ireland awards in the Clayton Hotel on Burlington Road, Dublin on Wednesday 21st February. This is their 2nd consecutive year to be named as a top Irish workplace, based on the findings of a robust employee survey and a thorough assessment of their policies and practices by the Great Place to Work Institute. Esri Ireland was recognised as the 6th Best Workplaces in Ireland 2018 (Small company category).
“Making the Best Workplaces list for the 2nd year in a row is a terrific achievement and jumping from 13th place in 2017 to 6th in 2018 is something we can all be very proud of. We’re totally committed to the Great Place to Work ethos and the data from our Great Place to Work Trust Survey provides us with evidence and focus. This way, we can prioritise the changes that can have the biggest impact from a business perspective, and from a people perspective”, said Joanne McLaughlin, Head of Marketing at Esri Ireland.
“For example, based on our 2017 survey results, we took the decision to completely revamp our office in Dublin as well as moving from our existing office in Holywood, to a new, larger facility there. Not only does this enable us to grow our team both north and south, it’s also given everyone a real sense of pride, energy and enthusiasm in the workplace. We’re now using our Great Place to Work Culture Audit as a tool help us to continue to make Esri Ireland a fun and challenging environment. Our Best Workplaces 2018 award belongs to everyone in Esri Ireland for the fantastic contribution they make to our business and the customers we serve every day”.
Special Achievement Award – Presented to Esri Ireland by An Taoiseach – Leo Varadkar
Esri Ireland also picked up a Special Achievement Award for their Speaking Practice which recognised how they communicated their Great Place to Work results through an interactive Story Map using Esri’s own technology. The interactive map showed the improvements that were made in the areas of communication, career development and performance management. This award was presented to Esri Ireland by An Taoiseach – Leo Varadkar.
In 2018, Great Place to Work® Ireland enters its sixteenth year of recognising great workplaces with the publication of their Best Workplaces in Ireland lists, and the number of workplaces who are realising the benefits of empowering their employees to flourish in a supportive high-trust culture continues to increase.
“It’s been a mixed year for Irish workplaces”, said John Ryan, CEO of Great Place to Work® Ireland. “who have seen good trading growth is tempered by ongoing uncertainty over the impact Brexit will have. Infrastructure challenges are making planning for expansion difficult, and we’re on the threshold of full employment in our cities which creates a real headache for organisations who are trying to attract and retain top talent. The organisations on this year’s list know that beyond a certain point, employees aren’t going to be tempted by a slightly more generous financial package: they want an environment where they feel psychologically safe, encouraged to grow, provided with opportunities to develop, and empowered to do their best work. Rather than simply throwing money at their staff, Irish workplaces should take advantage of reward and recognition opportunities as a chance to develop their employer brand; enhancing and amplifying their unique culture.”
About Great Place to Work® and the Assessment Process
Great Place to Work Ireland is part of a global network of culture consultants, with offices in 48 countries using an established methodology to publish lists at country, regional, and global levels. The best known of these is the Fortune 100 list of Best Companies to Work For in the United States. Our media partner in Ireland is The Irish Times, who develop the annual Best Workplaces Special Report.
The key defining feature of a great workplace is the level of trust that exists within it. From an employee’s viewpoint, the definition of a great workplace is one where you trust the people you work with, you have great pride in what you do, and you enjoy the people you work with. The Great Place to Work Institute assesses the policies and practices in place in organisations under nine key areas: Inspiring, Speaking, Listening, Caring, Developing, Thanking, Hiring, Celebrating, and Sharing. They then benchmark these practices against other organisations in that country. The second key component of the assessment is an anonymous Trust Index survey that gathers the perceptions of employees under five dimensions: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie. Finally, there is an in-depth qualitative analysis of open ended comments from employees.
