Esri UK Announces Support for ‘The Walk of Britain’
Walking with the Wounded
Esri UK has announced its involvement with Walking with the Wounded’s latest challenge - the 1,000 mile ‘Walk of Britain’ - designed to raise awareness of the nation’s wounded veterans throughout the United Kingdom. As well as acting as the Official Mapping Partner helping to plan the route, Esri UK will be the ‘Walking Partner’ sponsor for the Scottish leg, the first leg of ten stages to be undertaken by a core team of wounded veterans.
The ‘Walk of Britain’ starts in August from the Glenfiddich Distillery in Scotland, winding down through England and Wales across some of the country’s wildest terrain, to finish in London at the end of October. One of the key aims of the walk is for members of the team to engage with communities throughout mainland Britain and share the importance of the re-education and re-training of wounded servicemen and women, to help support their employment aspirations.
“These young men and women have given so much to their country through active service that supporting Walking with the Wounded, a totally unique charity, is a proud honour for us” commented Richard Waite, Chairman of Esri UK.
“We are privileged to be able to continue our long term relationship with Esri UK, who has been a tireless supporter of WWTW and our wounded since the very beginning. Without the generous support of our corporate sponsors, such as Esri UK, the Walk Of Britain wouldn’t happen,” added Ed Parker, Co-Founder of Walking with the Wounded.
