Esri UK appoints David Brandin-Lain to senior role
Esri UK, the leading provider of geospatial information exploitation capability to UK Defence and National Security, has strengthened support for its Air Domain customers with the appointment of David Brandin-Lain. His primary role, at Esri UK, will be to ensure that the company’s world-leading geo-spatial capabilities are optimised to meet Defence requirements within the Air Domain
Brandin-Lain joins from the Royal Air Force (RAF), where he was a Squadron Leader for the Intelligence Branch. Mentioned in the 2014 New Year’s Honours as a recipient of the AOC’s Commendation, his remit included managing the RAF’s Air Intelligence Centre’s team of 50 analysts, providing dedicated air intelligence support to the RAF, PJHQ and aviation assets throughout Defence.
With a background in military intelligence, Brandin-Lain has extensive hands-on geo-spatial analysis experience, having cross-trained in both disciplines at the Royal School of Military Survey and the Defence Intelligence and Security Centre. He led the Geographic Support Team at the Defence Geographic Centre and, more recently, acted as a Military Advisor to the Geospatial Team at the Defence, Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl).
“As world-leaders in geospatial solutions for the Defence community, we pride ourselves on providing the highest level of service to our customers,” commented Adrian Friend, Head of Defence, National Security & Public Safety at Esri UK. “Brandin-Lain’s exceptional experience will prove invaluable for our Air Domain customers, and his impressive track record of using his research, analysis, strategic planning and presentational skills will be a great asset for the company.”
