Esri UK join the Police Industry Charter
Esri UK are pleased to have signed up to the Police Industry Charter. The Charter establishes 5 key principles for greater partnership and delivery of the highest standard of service to the public.
- Designing products, services, and systems on the principle of interoperability first.
- Adopting a Maximum Transparency by Default position for products and services.
- Supporting the professional development of practitioners and senior leaders.
- Supporting UK policing in delivering sustainability.
- Collaboration and partnership.
These principles align with Esri’s Open Vision and with our values. This commitment builds on a long-term relationship with UK Policing and fosters greater collaboration, partnership and using a Geographic Approach to fight crime.
As everything happens somewhere, location is a key, but often hidden, attribute of almost all data. When harnessed appropriately, this attribute provides much-needed context and coherence, helping turn data into information that can be quickly fused, analysed and shared to provide the insight leaders need to make effective decisions.
Policing and Crime by its nature, is geographic, and by leveraging improving data services and systems, location provides a common thread across information giving UK Policing an advantage over criminals, and greater insight to deliver sustainability, mitigate climate change and adapt to the changing nature of crime.
Our collaboration with Police forces to identify, understand and tackle serious violence and antisocial behaviour hot spots in local communities using the Problem Oriented Policing solution is helping tackle serious crime and improve public trust locally. This works by sharing data and interoperating with other public sector systems and organisations – enabling collaboration at scale to tackle societies problems.
Our work with Estates teams in identifying the condition of the policing estate is improving the information that decision makers use to deliver sustainability projects and investment in facilities. More about our work in sustainability across all sectors can be found here.
"There are significant opportunities to develop understanding, skills, capability and leadership across UK Policing by applying the geographic approach, using data, science and technology, to tackle crime and keep people safe. The Police Industry Charter, and the ecosystem it has created, helps us build on our existing relationship and support UK Policing in realising these opportunities to improve public safety locally and nationally".
