Keynote: Digital Transformation – New / Future Market Trends and Developments in Telecoms (inc IoT) 2018

Speaker - Sumit Thakur, Senior Managing Partner & Head of Telecoms: Gartner

The presentation will look at how the Telecoms business is evolving and some of the key market and regulatory drivers behind the changes. Technology, including the Internet of Things and geospatial technology are being used to find solutions to high level business challenges such as regulatory pressures, innovation in the market, reducing costs, improving customer service and enabling operational intelligence. These will be explored and briefly related to the location based theme of the forum, setting the scene for the track presentations that follow.

11:00—11:30 Coffee Break
11:30—11:50 Converged Networks Quality of Experience (QoE)
Speaker - Achilles Petras: BT
ArcFM Roadmap
Speaker - Matthew Zimmerman, Director, Product Management: Schneider

ArcFM Roadmap

Speaker - Matthew Zimmerman, Director, Product Management: Schneider

Matthew will share his vision of the Utility Network and ArcGIS, looking at the roadmap for each one. With digital transformation putting more pressure on GIS, Design, Construction and As-built process and at some time, something needs to change. Explore how the ArcFM Solution XI Series can support this disruption.

11:50—12:20 What Does Automation Mean to Deploying Network Fibre
Speaker - Michael Measels, VP of Business Development: 3-GIS

What Does Automation Mean to Deploying Network Fibre

Speaker - Michael Measels, VP of Business Development: 3-GIS

Learn about new software tools that can reduce the time and amount of high-level resources needed to plan and design fibre networks. Explore ways to get to the high-level design budget faster, change processes from manual to human in the loop (HiTL) while decreasing the time it takes to get permitting. The software tools include rules-based prescribed routing applications, architectural engines used to generate network designs, GIS virtual ride out tools, and mobility tools for real time field updates. Along with discussing the software, Tommy will give an example of how the technology was used to help build out a major US service provider’s densification project.

12:20—12:30 INCA - Supporting the Altnets
Speaker - Malcolm Corbett, CEO: INCA

INCA - Supporting the Altnets

Speaker - Malcolm Corbett, CEO: INCA

In this session Malcolm will look at the growth of the UK’s digital infrastructure altnet sector and share details of INCA’s role in supporting these developments.

Transformation to a Place of Opportunity

Speaker - Bronagh Kelly & Michelle Cassidy: NI Water

Learn how Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) embarked on its corporate-wide migration onto to the ESRI ArcGIS platform, all within 10 months. This Corporate GIS has become an integral part of the company’s Corporate Asset Register, becoming the second most used application within the organisation after email.

Bronagh and Michelle will share how the Asset Information team have created a wealth of customised workflows which have delivered demonstrable benefits in terms of analyses, decision-making, efficiencies and improved data quality which are being utilised across the entire business.

GIS and the Telecom of the Future

Speaker - Randy Frantz,Telecommunications Industry Strategy Lead: Esri Inc

These are especially challenging times for services providers. They need to implement new network technology while facing increasing competition. As they prepare for the future, many companies are finding that location is a critical component to achieving success. Learn how leading telecommunications companies are using GIS to increase revenue, improve customer experience and reduce costs.

14:10—14:30 Flood Predictions for Great Britain Under a Changing Climate
Speaker - David Martin & Joe Thomas: Ambiental

Flood Predictions for Great Britain Under a Changing Climate

Speaker - David Martin & Joe Thomas: Ambiental

Ambiental and Landmark Information have created the first national flood map that uses future climate change prediction data. Based on climate scenarios modelled by UKCP09, it is predicted that flood hazard will generally increase over time, through more severe events occurring at a greater frequency, compounded by rising sea levels. The modelling process has created a new type of flood map which reveals insights into the changing future flood hazard, and quantifies the uncertainty around it.

This presentation introduces the product and looks at how flood risk (pluvial, fluvial and tidal) is predicted to vary. Ambiental will demonstrate the methods by which the data layers were produced, share some of the insights they reveal, and discuss how they can be used for flood risk management.

14:30—14:50 How to achieve Quality, Consistency and Accuracy in Field-to-Office
